Baseball: PC's Lozano, Prieto named to CCCBCA Academic All-State team

Porterville College not only produces quality individuals on the field, but also in the classroom. Two fine examples are the Pirate student-athletes Brandon Lozano and Jose Prieto who were recently named to the California Community College Baseball Coaches Association (CCCBCA) Academic All-State team.

Lozano, an outfielder for the Pirates, earned a perfect 4.00 grade point average while Prieto, a catcher, totaled a 3.53 GPA.

"I'd like to congratulate Porterville College student-athletes Jose Prieto and Brandon Lozano for being selected to the Baseball Academic All-State team," said PC Director of Student Programs and Athletic Joe Cascio. "Also congratulations to Coach Ben Walkowiak as well for promoting an environment of academic success in his program, and special thanks to counselor Jessica Shadrick for completing the nomination process."

The PC duo was two of just three student-athletes from the Central Valley Conference to earn the honor.
