Pirates Celebrate Student-Athlete Achievements at 15th Annual Awards Banquet
The Porterville College Athletic Department celebrated the on and off the field success of its student-athletes at the 15th Annual Academic & Athletic Achievement Awards on May 7. Student-athletes were honored for their outstandings academic and athletic performances during the 2024-2025 academic year.
2024-2025 Award Winners:
Freshmen of the Year: First-year student-athlete, demonstrated excellence in his or her sport
Danae Banuelos – Women's Basketball
Knautilus Vankham – Men's Tennis
Sophomores of the Year: Second-year student athlete, must have competed two years at PC, demonstrated excellence in his or her sport
Maria Angelita Etrata – Women's Track & Field/Women's Tennis
Jimmy Martinez - Baseball
Pirates of the Year: Student-Athlete that demonstrates a "team-first" attitude, shows heart, spirit and dedication to his or her teammates and coaches
Noelani Espiritu – Women's Volleyball
Levi Clark - Baseball
Tyler Curry Sportsmanship Award: Student-Athlete who consistently displays outstanding behavior and conducted themselves with a high degree of character and good sportsmanship
Destiny Duran – Women's Volleyball
Samuel Campos – Men's Tennis
Tiffanee Anderson Most Inspirational Award: Eligible Student-Athlete (1st or 2nd year) who has overcome personal odds/adversity and is an inspirational and valuable member of his or her team
Itzel Ferrer Huanaco – Women's Cross Country

Kathie Gifford Special Recognition Award: Individual from campus who demonstrates interest, support and/significant contribution to PC Athletics
Dustin Acres – Mathematics Professor/Curriculum Chair
Joe Tanguma Above and Beyond Award: Individual from campus who demonstrates interest, support and/significant contribution to PC Athletics
Eric Bailly – M&O Skilled Craftsman

Cedric Louis – Men's Basketball
Scholar-Athletes of the Year: Second-year student-athletes with the top overall Grade Point Average, also must have competed two years at PC

Community Outreach: This award is given to the team that displays continued outreach to the community

The athletic department also recognized its 81 student-athletes that were named to the Dean's List and President's Honors List.
