LIVERMORE – An impressive 2021-22 Porterville College men's basketball season came to a crushing end with the No. 12-seeded Pirates' 86-76 loss at No. 5 Las Positas College on Thursday night in Round 2 of the Northern California Regional Playoffs.
Despite the loss, first-year head coach Amaurys Fermin has the PC men's basketball program trending in the right direction.
Porterville put together one of its all-time best seasons in school history. PC opened the year by winning eight of its first 10 games and surged into the postseason on an eight-game winning streak.
The Pirates won 20 games for the first time in over 20 years and finished in second place in the Central Valley Conference with a 10-4 mark. Porterville made its first playoff appearance since 2003 and closed the season with a 20-8 overall record.
