Pirates open season, new stadium with rout of Allan Hancock
PORTERVILLE — The Porterville College Pirates opened the 2026 softball season and its new home softball facility with a strong showing, defeating the visiting Allan Hancock College Bulldogs by a final score of 12-2 in six innings on opening day.
After a scoreless first two frames, Allan Hancock pushed across two runs in the top of the third, but Porterville answered quickly and took control of the game. The Pirates' offense produced 10 hits and scored in multiple innings to pull away.
Porterville was led offensively by Morgynn Wylie, who drove in three runs, and Elli John, who finished with three hits and two RBI. The Pirates showed depth throughout the lineup, with several players contributing key run scoring hits.
In the circle, Alexandrea Andrighetto earned the win, holding the Bulldogs to one hit over six innings while striking out five. She also went 1-for-3 at the plate with an RBI to help her own cause.
The Pirates begin the season 1-0 and will look to build on the opening-day win as play continues. PC is back in action on Thursday (Jan. 29) with a doubleheader at Victor Valley College.
