SAN LUIS OBISPO – Freshman Danae Banuelos posted a double-double with 22 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Porterville College women's basketball team in a tough 101-58 loss at Cuesta College on Wednesday.
A rough first half hurt the Pirates. They trailed 21-11 after one quarter and were down 51-21 at the break.
Banuelos continues to perform early on in her first season with the Pirates. Wednesday's double-double was her seventh in eight games this season.
Alexis Vazquez added 15 points, Jada Bravo scored 9 points, and Andrea Perez contributed 4 points and 5 assists.
The loss dropped Porterville to 3-5 overall this season. The Pirates will look to snap a four-game losing streak next Thursday (Dec. 12) when they open play at the three-day Napa Valley College Storm Surge tournament. PC is scheduled to open against San Jose City College at 1 p.m.
