PORTERVILLE – The 2025-26 Porterville College women's basketball season got off to a tough start with the Pirates dropping both games of the two-day PC Crossover tourney at home. The Pirates officially opened the season with a 63-36 loss on Friday to Feather River College and closed the event with a 59-37 setback to Lassen College on Saturday.
PC was led by Neveah Lockett and Janessa Garza over the two games.
Lockett posted double-doubles in both games with 18 points and 13 rebounds against Feather River as well as 13 points and 13 boards vs. Lassen.
Garza totaled 15 points, 5 assists, and 3 steals in the loss to Feather River and scored 11 points against Lassen. Alina Gurrola was solid on the boards for PC, grabbing 11 rebound vs. Lassen and 15 against Lassen.
Porterville, now 0-2 overall, is back in action in search of its first win on Thursday (Nov. 13) when the Pirates host College of the Canyons at 6 p.m.
