Porterville College sophomore Madysen Clower totaled a match-high 9 kills to help lead the Pirates to a 3-0 sweep at West Hills College Lemoore in both teams' Central Valley Conference opener on Wednesday.
The victory evened PC's overall record at 3-3.
Porterville totaled 28 kills in the efficient 25-19, 25-15, 25-16 win. Emily Baeza had 8 kills to go along with 11 digs and Juliet Garcia chipped in with 6 kills.
Maggie Zanazzo quarterbacked the offense with 24 kills while Derica Ferris led PC with 12 dig and 3 aces.
Porterville will face a much tougher opponent in its next action on Friday when the Pirates travel to No. 15 state-ranked Fresno City College for a 6 p.m. conference match.
